Will Gen AI obey the Hype Cycle?
For many years, Gartner have updated their Hype Cycle model for new technologies. The model is a result of observation that new technologies goes through different cycles before they can reach a solid (if successful) productivity level.
After introduction of new technology, it quickly reach a peak of inflated expectations which gives the Hype cycle its name. Most stakeholders in the tech world have been through many of these bubbles, most of which bursts and by doing that - abide the Hype cycle chart.
In the 2012 Hype Cycle for emerging technologies, the technology Natural Language Question Answering is expected to reach the plateau in 5 to 10 years. Not a bad prediction if this is the way we label ChatGBT3
